JAMES Fry insists his side are ‘growing’ in confidence after Alvechurch claimed an impressive point in a 1-1 draw away at AFC Telford United.
An early goal from Ammar Dyer put Church ahead only for Sam Whittall’s penalty to level the game after the break at New Bucks Head.
The result leaves Alvechurch ninth in the Southern League Premier Central table and Fry hopes his team can back up their recent performances when they host St Ives Town this weekend.
Fry said: “We’re growing now, I can feel it, we’re starting to put little bits together. We have to back this performance up.
“To come to Telford and dig in, the players deserve credit for that.
“I was delighted with the first half, the attitude to want to get up the pitch and put pressure on the ball was really good.
“We scored early, our structure and our shape was excellent and if you’re tactically not right you can get found out but the boys were excellent.
“The second half was really difficult, they put us under a hell of a lot of pressure.”
Church made the perfect start when Dyer rifled a shot into the corner after just five minutes after Telford failed to clear their lines.
However, the home side equalised on 62 minutes as Whittall found the net from the spot after Ricardo Dinanga drew a foul in the box.
Alvechurch entertain St Ives on Saturday, October 19 with kick-off at 3pm at Lye Meadow.
