TIM Flowers will take some time to ‘reflect’ on Redditch United’s start to the season following an impressive 3-1 victory against AFC Telford United.
The Reds returned to winning ways thanks to goals from Johnny Johnston, Marvellous Onabirekhanlen and Jaiden White at the Valley Stadium.
And with Redditch fourth in the Southern League Premier Central table, Flowers heaped praise on his young side.
Flowers said: “Our boys were unbelievable, a lot of them have run themselves into the ground all season.
“If we don’t work hard, press hard and stay together then we’re not good enough, it’s a terrific effort.
“We’re doing alright, there’s still a long way to go.
“The lads are chomping at the bit to play and they’re doing really well, the average age is ridiculous, there’s some really young lads in there.
“I’ve got some time now to reflect on the first 13 games. We need to move on and strengthen if we can.”
United took the lead inside the first minute when Johnston finished from close range after Telford goalkeeper Brandon Hall could only parry White’s initial effort.
The Reds eventually doubled their lead on 83 minutes as Johnston played Onabirekhanlen in-behind the Telford defence and the latter lashed a venomous shot past Hall.
And the home side sealed the points five minutes later when White placed a low effort into the bottom right corner from the edge of the penalty area.
Telford scored a consolation goal five minutes into injury time as Matt Stenson turned the ball home from a corner.
That came after the Reds suffered a frustrating 2-1 home defeat against Leiston last weekend.
Redditch are next in action against St Ives Town on Saturday, November 2 with kick-off at 3pm at Westwood Road.
