REDDITCH United recorded a first clean sheet since Boxing Day in a goalless draw against Royston Town.

The Reds improved after the break but could not find a winner in a stalemate at the Valley Stadium.

And the result means Redditch sit 16th in the Southern League Premier Central table, six points clear of the relegation zone.

Reds boss Matt Clarke admits the gap to the relegation zone is closing but insists his players know they need to start winning games to pull clear of danger.

Clarke said: “I’m really pleased to keep a clean sheet because that’s something that’s evaded us for quite a while.

“I’m frustrated that we didn’t have the cutting edge in the final third, we were comfortably the better team in the second half.

“It’s just the decision-making and the final pass, maybe having an extra touch instead of releasing the ball.

“The players are playing with a little bit of fear because the gap is closing at the bottom.

“We’ve got 10 big games to go and the dressing room knows they have to get points on the board to keep us away from danger.”

Redditch are next in action against Stamford on Tuesday, March 4 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Zeeco Stadium.
