NOMADS trio James Marshal, Mac Eaton and Alan Cummings won the Redditch Skittles League’s triples competition.
The trio formed Nomads’ A team and defeated Bernie’s Bolts A trio of Paul Blayney, Mark West and Jim Williamson in the final.
The competition began with two groups of five teams with the top two finishes in each group to qualify for the semi-finals.
The group stage matches took place over four legs as Jumbo Jets B dominated Group A.
Jumbo Jets players Dave Badsey, Dave Marriott and Len Quartly topped the group while Nomads A also found form to take the other semi-final spot.
And Engineers B also dominated Group B as Andy Clewlow, Neil Morris and Oliver Davis took top spot.
Bernie’s Bolts A clinched the other semi-final place as Blayney took all nine pins with the final ball in a tight affair.
Nomads A faced Engineers B in the first semi-final as the former side took a 21-pin lead at the end of leg three.
A good last leg score from Nomads meant Engineers needed 51 pins to reach the final which proved well out of reach.
The other semi-final saw Bernie’s Bolts A take control after three legs against Jumbo Jets.
However, Jumbo Jets finished strongly but could only leave the Bolts 14 pins for victory.
Blayney again proved the hero as he held his nerve to win the game for Bernie’s Bolts by a single pin.
The final took place over five legs as Bernie’s Bolts edged into an early one-pin lead.
Nomads pulled two pins clear at the end of leg two and also doubled their lead at the end of the next leg.
And a 28-pin fourth leg saw Nomads take a commanding lead with the Bolts in need of 41 pins to lift the trophy.
The Bolts were unable to score the required pins as Nomads claimed the title.
