TIM Keyte and Seth Jordan held their nerve to edge Tanworth and Camp Hill to a dramatic one-wicket win against Exhall and Wixford.

The ball dominated proceedings with Exhall and Wixford bowled out for 121 in 27 overs only for TACH to sneak over the line at the end of the 39th over in reply at the Exhall Oval.

Exhall won the toss and opted to bat on a gloriously sunny day, in what was only their third home match of the season following groundwater issues early in the season.

Jordan and Ben Bryant took the new ball for TACH, and Jordan (1-21) made the first breakthrough as he removed opener Julian Morris (5), who could only fend the ball to Keyte in the gully.

Bryant (2-33) claimed two wickets of his own in short succession, as he went through the defences of Craig Atherton (15) before trapping Will Green (0) LBW to leave Exhall on 40-3.

Runs continued to flow even as the wickets tumbled, with the TACH bowlers unusually profligate with wides which continued throughout the innings.

Oscar Newell came on as first change up the steep Exhall hill, and trapped home captain Sam Smith (24) LBW.

At the other end spin undid the middle order with Scott Carmichael (18), Tom Simpson (11) and Rob Perry (1) all dismissed by Tom Smith (5-24) inside a three-over period as the score moved past 100 inside 20 overs.

Newell (2-31) then claimed his second wicket as Chris Harris (0) missed a straight one, before Smith wrapped up the innings in successive balls, to see Exhall bowled out inside 27 overs for just 121, with 37 off those runs gifted through extras.

In reply, Jake Wright (4) and Andy Turnbull (8) opened for TACH but both batters fell early on with the former bowled and latter trapped LBW.

However, Martin Perfect (26) and Tom Smith (21) moved TACH to 63-2 before both fell in quick succession to spark a collapse of 12-4 inside four overs.

Robert Perry (2-36) and Richard Layton (2-22) both struck twice while some ill-advised running between the wickets left TACH in trouble on 75-6 and the game in the balance.

Dan Williams (14) and Newell (18) slowly rebuilt in the face of some attacking fields and an increasingly inconsistent wicket, before Williams was unlucky to be caught at short leg off Perry.

Green returned to the attack and claimed Nick Sale (5), who became the sixth LBW of the game, and then Newell, who chopped on trying to force the ball through the off side.

TACH required 12 runs with just one wicket remaining as Keyte and Jordan repelled Green, Morris and Simpson with the former driving Morris down the ground for four to seal the win.
