THE ELEMENTS combined to frustrate Tanworth and Camp Hill who lost ground on the top-two after the abandonment of their game against Lapoworth.
TACH won the toss and opted to field on a wicket showing plenty of live grass at Old Warwick Road, offering assistance to the seam bowlers throughout the day.
Teenager James Protherough made his TACH debut and the 15-year-old bowled well despite not taking a wicket.
New ball pair Seth Jordan and Ben Bryant continued their fine recent form to share seven wickets while Oscar Newell, Tim Keyte and Fergus Wassell all took a wicket apiece.
Lee Gill claimed two catches at second slip, including a diving one-handed grab off the bat of Dave Pugh (2), while Sean Cross (3) and Ethan Glynn (2) both had their stumps rattled by Jordan (4-31).
At the other end Ellis Rose (19) offered some resistance as he hit four boundaries before Bryant (3-32) had him caught at mid-wicket to leave Lapworth struggling on 37-5.
However, Andrew Dickinson (67) set about rebuilding the home side’s innings as Newell (1-27) trapped Joe Poulson (4) LBW before Keyte (1-31) also trapped Sanjay Mehmi (3) LBW in quick succession.
With Lapworth in trouble on 76-7, Dickinson combined well with Hiiro Cheriton (20) before Bryant made a double breakthrough as he cleaned up Cheriton and then Sid Albrighton (7).
A final wicket partnership of 35 with Mikey King (19 not out) saw Lapworth add some crucial runs as Dickinson completed a fine half-century before being stumped on the final ball of the innings off Wassell (1-19) with Lapworth bowled out for 174 from their 45 overs.
However, light rain set in over the tea break and the clouds only started to clear at the cut-off time of 5.50pm as the light rain persisted with the game abandoned despite the improving conditions.
Tanworth claimed 10 points from the fixture to Lapworth’s eight with TACH still third in the Cotswold Hills League Premier Division table.
Tanworth are next in action at home to Long Itchington on Saturday, July 27 with the game to begin at 12.30pm at Tanworth Lane.
