SHIHAN Dave Treadwell, who teaches at Redditch Furi Sutairu Shotokan Karate Federation, will lead, coach and train the England team at the ICO World Championships.
The 6th dan black belt has trained in Shotokan Karate for over 40 years.
Treadwell has taught at Redditch Furi Sutairu Shotokan Karate Federation for more than two decades.
Shihan Treadwell said: “This is a fantastic opportunity that I am really looking forward to leading.
“I am looking forward to bringing my experience in traditional karate by leading with my explosive style.
“I always tell my students ‘become the bamboo — flexible in all situations, not the oak that is rigid’.
“We are always learning. I can’t wait to lead the ICO and support the next generation of talented martial artists.”
Treadwell will spearhead traditional karate as England’s president for the discipline and European director.
He is a multiple British, European and World title in kata and kumite.
