SKITTLES – Lodge Farmers return to winning ways in Redditch Skittles League

TABLE toppers Lodge Farmers returned to winning ways in the Redditch Skittles League after securing a comfortable victory against The Borough.

Farmers took the first four legs by double-figure scores to lead by 52 pins heading into the final leg.

The Borough made their best score in the final leg after scoring 66 pins to leave Lodge Farmers needing just 15 pins for victory.

Lodge Farmers could not top the Borough’s last leg score but made enough pins to win the match.

For Lodge Farmers, Rachel Morris (42, 13 and 12 stacks), Tim Jones (38) and Frank Morris and Glyn Morley (both 37) top scored while Sarah Edwards (33), Julian Workman (32) and Charlie and Scott Few, Tom Baker and Steve Court (all 31) impressed for the Borough.

Elsewhere, Engineers overcame C and G Show in a low-scoring affair.

Engineers won the first two legs to take an unassailable 46-pin lead only to stall in the third leg as C and G Show reduced the deficit to 38 pins.

The victors recovered after leg four to extend their lead to 53 pins although C and G Show won the final leg to pick up another consolation point.

For Engineers, Ian Greenway (38) and Brandon, Joe and Josh Kelso (all 35) top scored while Adam Feeney (40, 15 stack), Neil Jay (33) and Rich Fisher (32, 11 stack) impressed for C and G Show.

Lastly, Nomads pulled away from the bottom of the table with victory against Bernie’s Bolts.

The game proved a tight affair over the first four legs with no more than seven pins separating the two teams.

Nomads bowled the highest leg score of the game in the last leg to leave Bolts needing 77 pins for victory.

However, despite scoring well, Bolts could not reach the required total.

For Nomads, Alan Cummings (43, 14 stack), James Marshal (36) and Phil Jones (34) top scored while Jim Williamson (41, 13 stack), Andy Gill-Smith (38, 10 stack) and Jess Andrews (36) all impressed.

C&G Show 265 (3pts) – Engineers 311 (8pts)

Lodge Farmers 344 (9pts) – The Borough 293 (2pts)

Nomads 328 (8.5pts) – Bernie’s Bolts 317 (2.5pts)
